When you look at people, do you really recognise what they are? Do you see the truth or your desire? Is desire the truth? And if so, is the truth about you the desire of others?

SALOME is to dance for her stepfather King Herod and demands a high price in return. This story has been told for thousands of years and questions the idea of identity. If you stare at her beauty for too long, you stare into an abyss and wonder where it will lead.

Einar Schleef wrote a version in which the raw language emphasises the characters' licentiousness. They give in to their desires and defy all reason, which ultimately leads to everyone's downfall. Here, longing becomes fuel.

"There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it." - Oscar Wilde
